HOUSTON (ICIS news)--Dow Chemical’s caustic soda plant in Aratu, Brazil, started running at full rates following repairs after an electrical glitch two weeks ago, a source close to the company said on Friday.

The 415,000 dry metric tonne (dmt)/year plant had been running at about half capacity due to problems that started earlier, the source said.

The loss of caustic soda production was estimated in the order of 3,000-5,000 dmt, sources said.

Dow’s customers in Brazil were not affected by the slowdown, although Dow’s inventories were reduced temporarily, according to the source.
