LONDON (ICIS news) – Indian fertilizer importer and producer Rashtriya Chemicals Fertilizers (RCF) has received four offers under its 17 May tender for 100,000 tonnes of phosphates, trader sources confirmed on Monday.

The tender, for 100,000 tonnes of diammonium phosphate (DAP), received four offers, although price bidding had yet to be opened, sources said.

International trader company Transammonia offered two 25,000 tonne DAP lots of open origin while Quantum offered 40,000 tonnes of Australian DAP.

Ameropa offered 25,000 tonnes of Chinese/open origin DAP while Rare Earth offered 30,000 tonnes, also of Chinese origin.

RCF has issued numerous tenders in the past two months for DAP, but has yet to buy under any tender. Traders were sceptical that any deal would be agreed under the latest tender.

India has so far imported close to 7m tonnes of DAP under contract for 2010-11 arrival. Prices have been capped at $500/tonne CFR (cost and freight) to accommodate India’s move to a nutrient-based subsidy. Latest sales have been concluded at $490-495/tonne CFR.
