HOUSTON (ICIS news)--A fire broke out at LyondellBasell's Houston Refinery in Texas, sending black plumes of smoke into the sky, media reports said on Monday.

Reuters reported that the fire was at a crude distillation unit.

The Houston Chronicle reported that firefighters received calls after 14:30 hours Houston time (19:30 GMT) about a storage tank being on fire. There were no reports of injuries, the Chronicle reported, citing a spokeswoman from the Houston Fire Department.

The Houston Refinery has a capacity of 268,000 bbl/day, according to LyondellBasell. It is among North America’s largest full-conversion refineries capable of processing significant quantities of heavy, high-sulphur crude oil.

A spokesman from LyondellBasell was not immediately available for comment.
