SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Thai producer PTT Aromatics will shutdown its No 2 unit producing benzene and paraxylene (PX) in June for scheduled maintenance, a company source said on Tuesday.

The Mab Ta Phut-based unit producing 460,000 tonnes/year of benzene and 616,000 tonnes/year of PX would be shut for about 30 days, the source added.

The shutdown was not expected to have a big impact on the region's benzene prices, which were currently trading mostly for July loading cargoes, traders said.

Some of the other key benzene producers in southeast Asia are Singapore’s ExxonMobil and Indonesia’s TPPI.
