China National Salt builds ammonia, caustic soda units in Jiangsu

SHANGHAI (ICIS news)--China National Salt Industry Corporation (CNSIC) began construction of a 270,000 tonne/year synthetic ammonia plant and a 600,000 tonne/year combined soda plant in Jiangsu province early this week, the company said on Wednesday.

Construction of the two plants would cost an estimated yuan (CNY) 2.74bn ($401m), and would be completed within three years. The plants to be located in Kunshan city would mostly service the east China markets, the company said in a statement.

Combined soda is a form of soda ash, which can used to make float glass for construction, and consumer goods such as glass bottles and detergent.
