SHANGHAI (ICIS news)--China-based Shandong Luxi Chemical has achieved on-spec production at its recently started new 200,000 tonne/year caustic soda plant in eastern Shandong province, the company said on Thursday.

In a filing to the Shenzhen Stock Exchange made on the same day, the fertilizer producer said the firm had been conducting trial runs since March and has achieved on-spec production.

The yuan (CNY) 490m ($71.74m) plant - located at Dong E Luxi Chemical Industry Park - was currently operating at 30-40% capacity, a company source said.

“It [the plant] will ramp up to full capacity three to four months later,” the source stated.

In the same filing, the fertilizer producer also said that the firm's first-phase 80,000 tonne/year melamine plant and 50,000 tonne/year organic silicon unit - part of the company’s investment plan released last year - have started trial runs.

In early April, Luxi Chemical commissioned a first-phase 60,000 tonne/year dichloromethane/trichloromethane facility and a 100,000 tonne/year methylamine unit, according to a report from ICIS news.
