EU chemicals orders continue to rise in March - Eurostat

LONDON (ICIS news)--EU chemicals orders in March increased by 3.1% compared with February as the industry continued  to show signs of recovery from the global economic downturn, figures from statistical office Eurostat showed on Tuesday.

Results also showed that total industrial new orders across the 27 EU member states in March increased by 5.9% month on month, with the highest increases registered in Denmark (+20.6%), Estonia (+12.3%) and Greece (+11.7%).

Eurozone chemicals orders in March were up 3.5% compared with the previous month, while total eurozone industrial new orders increased by 5.2%.

Year on year, chemicals new orders in the EU27 in March shot up 21.1% and those in the eurozone were up 23.9%, the agency said.

Industrial new orders in the EU27 in March were up 20.7% year on year, with eurozone industrial new orders up 19.8%, Eurostat said.
