LONDON (ICIS news)--CEPSA Quimica intends to lift force majeure (FM) on phenol and acetone from its plant in ?xml:namespace>
“The force majeure will be lifted on 1 June and we will be supplying as normal,” the source confirmed, stressing however that availability would be far from normal following five weeks of unexpected production issues.
“We won’t be long. We lost product for the whole of May and the product is gone for ever.”
CEPSA declared FM on 23 April after major corrosion was detected on line three, its newest phenol production line.
The company has been running with only line two and its three phenol production lines, with line one idled since the economic downturn took hold at the end of 2008.
Line three came on-stream in 2007. It has the capacity to produce 250,000 tonnes/year of phenol and 155,000 tonnes/year of acetone.
