Borouge awards $71m construction contract

SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Borouge has awarded a United Arab Emirates (UAE) dirhams (Dh) 260m ($70.78m) contract to Abu Dhabi-based Associated Construction & Investments Company (ASCON) to build its new innovation centre, the plastics producer said in a statement on Monday.

“The contract includes the construction of a training centre for the Gulf Plastic Pipes Academy (GPPA),” the company said.

The innovation centre in Abu Dhabi was expected to be completed by the end of 2011, and would develop products for the pipe, automotive and advanced packaging industries, it added.

Borouge is a joint venture (JV) between Borealis, a major provider of chemical and plastics solutions, and oil major, Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC).

ASCON is the civil arm of the ETA-ASCON Group.
