Brazil ethanol spot prices drop after slow week - CEPEA

HOUSTON (ICIS news)--Brazil’s ethanol prices remained on a downtrend in the shortened week ended on 4 June, data from research group CEPEA showed on Tuesday.

CEPEA assessed hydrous ethanol at Brazilian reais (R) 0.7054/litre ($1.43/gal), a drop of 0.5% from R0.7093/litre in the week ended 28 May.

Anhydrous ethanol was assessed at R0.8167/litre, also down by 0.5% from R0.8210/litre a week earlier.

Market activity in Brazil was reduced in the week ended 4 June, as most businesses shut down following a holiday on Thursday.

CEPEA’s price assessments are ex-tank and do not include taxes.

Brazil uses hydrous ethanol as a stand-alone fuel in flexible-fuel vehicles (FFVs), while anhydrous ethanol is blended in gasoline at a mandated 25%.
