Finland’s chemicals output falls by 7.7% in April

LONDON (ICIS news)--Finland’s chemicals output in April fell by 7.7% compared with the same month last year, Statistics Finland said on Thursday.

Compared with March, chemical output decreased by 6.5%, according to the latest figures released by Finland's official statistics agency.

Chemical capacity utilisation in April dropped to 65.2%, down from 76.0% in the same month of 2009.

Production of wood and paper products, a key end-user market for the domestic chemicals industry, grew in April by 21.9% year on year and was up 5.3% compared with March.

Capacity utilisation in the wood and paper industry in April rose to 84.8%, compared with 65.3% in the same period last year and 76.9% in March.
