SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Indonesia’s Kaltim will carry out maintenance at its 660,000 tonne/year methanol plant in Bontang from 4 October to 12 November, a company source said on Friday.
Kaltim had postponed a planned shutdown of the unit to the fourth quarter of 2010 from January-February because of strong methanol demand.
Market players welcomed this move due to tight supply woes in the country ever since the other Indonesian producer, PT Medco Methanol Bunyu shut down in early 2009.
Deals had been heard this week in the $270/tonne (€221/tonne) CFR (cost and freight) ?xml:namespace>
The other regional methanol producer is Petronas.
($1 = €0.82)
