SK Energy shuts benzene reformer this week for maintenance

SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--South Korean aromatics major SK Energy has shutdown its Ulsan-based reformer producing 10,000 tonnes/month benzene for a scheduled turnaround, a source close to the company said on Thursday.

The unit was taken off line from 21 June as per earlier plans and the company planned to restart production by end-July, the source added.

Some of the other key benzene producers in South Korea are GS Caltex and Yeochun Naphtha Cracking Center (YNCC).
