LONDON (ICIS news)--BioDiesel International (BDI) is to change its name to BDI - BioEnergy International to reflect a broader strategic focus on the waste-to-biofuels field, the Austria-based biofuels technology company said on Thursday.
Through acquisitions and in-house technology developments, the company has broadened its scope to include the manufacturing of technology for processing industrial waste and by-products into biofuels.
The name change has been approved by BDI’s shareholders and will take effect on 1 July 2010, when it will enter into the Austrian trade directory.
“Following the extension of our product and service portfolio as well as the acquisition of UIC [waste oil and animal fat separation specialist] and, more recently, of a majority interest in Enbasys, the specialist for biogas technology, it was a logical step to reflect the broader portfolio in the company name too”, said Wilhelm Hammer, the company’s CEO.
