TORONTO (ICIS news)--US president Barack Obama on Wednesday appointed the chief executives of Dow Chemical, Dow Corning and Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) to the President’s Export Council, the White House said in a statement.
Andrew Liveris (Dow Chemical), Stephanie Burns (Dow Corning) and Patricia Woertz (ADM) were among 18 appointments to the council.
The council is a public/private sector committee that advises the president on international trade.
In a separate statement, Dow Corning said the council, which reports to the Department of Commerce, would play a key role in the president’s National Export Initiative to double US exports over the next five year
Dow Corning is a joint venture between Dow Chemical and glass maker Corning.
