SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Thai MMA shut its 90,000 tonne/year methyl methacrylate (MMA) plant in Mab Ta Phut on Friday for maintenance that will last 10 days, a company source said.

The plant's run rate had been gradually reduced in the days leading to the shutdown date, resulting in production loss of some 700 tonnes of MMA, the source said.

“Our inventories are very low now,” the source added.

Thai MMA is a joint venture between Mitsubishi Rayon Co (MRC) of Japan and Siam Cement Group (SCG) of Thailand.

Mitsubishi Rayon is one of the largest MMA producers in Asia.

Other Asian MMA producers include Asahi Kasei, Sumitomo Chemical and Formosa Plastics.
