Finland’s chemicals output rises by 7.5% in May

LONDON (ICIS news)--Finland’s chemicals output in May increased by 7.5% compared with the same month last year, Statistics Finland said on Friday.

Compared with April, the country’s chemical output increased by 16.1%, according to the latest figures released by Finland's official statistics agency.

Chemical capacity utilisation in May increased to 79.3%, up from 74.9% in the same month of 2009.

Production of wood and paper products, a key end-user market for the domestic chemicals industry, grew in May by 21.2% year on year.

However, month on month the wood and paper industry’s output growth slowed to 0.4% from 13.0% in April.

Capacity utilisation in the wood and paper industry in May rose to 85.0%, compared with 71.9% in the same period last year and 84.8% in April.
