SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Taiwan’s Formosa Petrochemical Corp (FPC) is considering to keep its 700,000 tonne/year No 1 naphtha cracker in Mailiao shut for two to three months, said two sources close to the company on Friday.
This was a longer downtime period than the one month initially being mulled, after an explosion halted the cracker's operations on Wednesday, they said.
The company was also looking at postponing the August turnaround at its 1.03m tonne/year No 2 cracker at the same site, but the move would require government approvals, market sources said.
