HOUSTON (ICIS news)--US acrylonitrile (ACN) exports for May were 63,856 tonnes, up 6% from the 60,070 tonnes shipped during the same month the year before, the US International Trade Commission (ITC) said on Tuesday.
ACN exports in May were more than double the 31,523 tonnes in April, the ITC said.
Demand from buyers in Asia and Europe grew as ACN manufacturers in those regions underwent maintenance turnarounds.
South Korea was the largest buyers of US ACN, bringing in 28,163 tonnes in May.
Major US ACN producers include INEOS and Cytec Industries.
