SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Here is Friday’s mid-day Asia oil and chemical market summary from ICIS.

CRUDE: Aug WTI $76.62/bbl BRENT: Aug $76.05/bbl, down 4 cents
US crude futures held steady at $76.62/bbl, drawing support from potential Atlantic hurricanes. Oil also tracked lower Asian equities due to disappointing US economic data.

NAPHTHA: $626.50-629.50/tonne CFR Japan, down $1-2
Asian first half September naphtha was notionally assessed lower at $626.50-629.50/tonne CFR, with the first half September and first half October contracts miring in a deep contango of $7/tonne, reflecting a bearish market. Meanwhile the second half September contract was valued at $630.00-633.00/tonne CFR Japan and the first half October contract stood at $633.50-636.50/tonne CFR Japan.

BENZENE: $760-770/tonne FOB Korea, down $5
Buy-sell indications for September parcels were cited at $760-773/tonne FOB Korea. Discussions for August material remained limited.

TOLUENE: $705-715/tonne FOB Korea, down $5
Bids for September parcels were mostly cited around $700-705/tonne FOB Korea while buying indications for August cargoes were placed slightly below $700/tonne FOB Korea. Offers for September were mostly heard around $715/tonne FOB Korea
