China finalises ADD on PTA imports from Thailand

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China has finalised anti-dumping (ADD) duties on purified terephthalic acid (PTA) imported from Thailand, bringing down over half of the existing provisional rates, market sources said on Friday.

The official announcement was expected a day before 13 August when the new rates would become effective, sources said.

Major Thai PTA producers, including Siam Mitsui, Tuntext Thailand Petrochemical, and Indorama Petrochemical would see 6.2-10.9 percentage point cuts to the new ADD rate ranging between 6% to 8%, the sources said.

“The new rates will have limited impact on both export volumes and prices,” said a company source form Tuntext Thailand.

He said cargoes from Thailand could still not compete with Korean material, which was subjected to 2-3.7% ADD.
