SAO PAULO (ICIS)--Brazil's June industrial chemical output rose by 2.51% year over year, chemical trade group Abiquim said on Friday.

The year over year increase was due to June 2009 being such a weak month, Abiquim said.

When compared with May, June output fell 4.24%, Abiquim said.

June domestic sales dropped 2.07% year over year and 0.21% from May, Abiquim said.

In the first half of 2010, industrial chemical output increased by 12.01%, and domestic sales grew by 9.89%, Abiquim said.

Brazil's chemical industry ran at an average rate 79% of installed capacity in June, down 4 percentage points when compared with the same period of 2009.
