For the January-June 2010 period, methanol imports stood at 3.15bn litres, compared with 2.87bn litres in the same period of 2009, according to the ITC.
Trinidad and Tobago, Venezuela and Equatorial Guinea continued as the top three countries of origin, with Trinidad and Tobago accounting for 74% of total imports. The three countries together shipped 94% of all US methanol imports.
US methanol spot prices were assessed by ICIS at 91-93 cents/gal.
US methanol sellers include Methanex, BP, SABIC and Southern Chemical.
