HOUSTON (ICIS)--US ethylene production in the second-quarter rose by 2.5% compared with the year-earlier quarter, the National Petrochemical & Refiners Association (NPRA) said on Wednesday.
Monomer production in April-June was 13.07bn lb (5.93m tonnes), up from 12.75bn lb in the same months of 2009, the group said.
US ethylene output rose by 2.8% from 12.72bn lb in the first-quarter of 2010.
Ethylene inventories in the second quarter were at 603m lb, dropping by 37% from 950m lb a year earlier but rising by 18% from 509m lb in the first quarter of 2010.
NPRA's quarterly data for ethylene is based on voluntary reports.
