HOUSTON (ICIS)--LyondellBasell shut down a unit at its refinery in Channelview, Texas, due to a furnace upset, the company said on Wednesday.
The company said the problem affected its methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) and ethyl tertiary butyl ether (ETBE) units, according to a filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
However, LyondellBasell did not specify which unit it shut down at the refinery.
LyondellBassell cut MTBE production by nearly two-thirds, to 12,000-15,000 bbl/day, once it began making ETBE in the fourth quarter.
A spokesman for the company did not immediately respond to calls for comment.
