HOUSTON (ICIS)--US fuel ethanol stocks were at 19.20m bbl (806m gal) in the week ended 13 August, down by 0.7% from 19.34m bbl a week earlier, the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) said on Wednesday.
US ethanol production last week averaged 860,000 bbl/day, also down by 0.7% from 866,000 bbl/day in the previous week.
Market sources have pointed to the hot weather as a possible factor behind the drop in ethanol production, saying some plants could be running slower as the heat can affect cooling tower temperatures.
US ethanol production in July averaged 836,000 bbl/day, down from an average of 839,000 bbl/day in June.
