LONDON (ICIS)--EuroChem will shut down production of butyl acetate at Nevinnomyssk, Russia, in mid-September, a company source said on Thursday.

Routine maintenance will be carried out at the 18,000 tonne/year butyl acetate unit for two weeks.

There is no shutdown scheduled at the company’s 160,000 tonne/year acetic acid feedstock unit during that time.

“All contractual obligations [of butyl acetate] will be fulfilled and we think we may look to bring more into northwest Europe after [the outage],” the source said.

The major producers of butyl acetate in Europe are BASF, INEOS and Oxea.
