SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Japan may soon devise ways to prevent the yen from strengthening further as it seeks to support its ailing economy, which barely expanded in the second quarter.

Shell Singapore cracker possibly shut, flaring seen - sources
SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Energy giant Shell has possibly shut its 800,000 tonne/year mixed-feed cracker in Bukom, Singapore, for the second time this month following flaring at the site.

Focus - India’s PP imports shrink 37% in Apr-July, demand up 13%
SINGAPORE (ICIS)--India’s imports of polypropylene (PP) have shrunk by 37% in April-July 2010 from the same year-ago period, a trend likely to continue in months ahead, even though demand in the duration surged by 13%.

Taiwan's Formosa open to renegotiations on Mailiao fire damages

Tasweeq sells 600,000 tonnes naphtha for Oct ’10-Sep ‘11
SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Qatar International Petroleum Marketing (Tasweeq) has sold by tender 600,000 tonnes of naphtha for October 2010 to September 2011 supply at a double-digit premium underscoring a firming Asian naphtha market.
