HOUSTON (ICIS)--LyondellBasell will begin dismantling its Chocolate Bayou cracker in Texas next month and proceed with selling off the components, a spokesman said on Monday.
The company should finish the dismantling early in the second quarter, said David Harpole, spokesman for LyondellBasell.
LyondellBasell will sell off the pieces as scrap or for other uses, which should offset much of the dismantling costs, Harpole said.
He would not comment on the buyers.
LyondellBasell had operated the cracker on land that is now owned by Ascend Performance Materials.
Ascend did not immediately return calls seeking comment.
