LONDON (ICIS)--An initial European September benzene settlement has been agreed at €703/tonne ($890/tonne), up €35/tonne from August, one buyer and one seller said on Wednesday.

According to the seller, the increase was largely expected due to improving sentiment after the traditional summer holiday period and current spot indications.

The settlement was made late on 31 August at a US dollar concept of $893/tonne FOB (free on board) NWE (northwest Europe) and converted to the euro price at an officially agreed exchange rate of $1.2703 to €1.
