US fuel ethanol stocks drop 1.7% to 17.6m bbl - EIA

HOUSTON (ICIS)--US fuel ethanol stocks fell by 1.7% to 17.6m bbl (738m gal) in the week ended 27 August from a week earlier, the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) said on Wednesday.

However, production as assessed by the EIA rose last week to an average of 856,000 bbl/day, a 2.5% increase from 835,000 bbl/day in the previous week.

US ethanol production in August averaged 854,000 bbl/day, a 2.2% increase from 836,000 bbl/day in July, according to EIA data.
