SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Japanese producer Sumitomo Chemical Co is running its 53,000 tonne/year No 1 MMA line in Jurong Island, Singapore, at 100% after restarting it late last week, a company source said on Friday.

The line was shut on 14 July for a six-week maintenance turnaround, the source added.

The company’s two other MMA lines at the same site, which have a combined capacity of 170,000 tonnes/year, were in full operation, said the source.

Sumitomo Chemical is a major MMA producer in Asia.

Other MMA producers in Asia include Asahi Kasei Corp, Mitsubishi Rayon Co and Formosa Plastics Corp.

MMA is used to produce PMMA polymer, cast sheets and acrylic resins for coatings and emulsions.
