LONDON (ICIS)--EU volumes of retail trade, which includes many key end users of the petrochemical industry, has been steadily increasing since a slight fall in April, with a 1.0% growth in July year on year, the European statistics office Eurostat said on Friday.
Figures also showed that during July 2010, the retail sales index rose by 1.1% in the 16-member eurozone (EA16).
Among the member states for which data was available, total retail trade rose in eleven and decreased in eight. The highest increases were witnessed in France (+6.1%), ?xml:namespace>
Month on month, the volume of retail trade in July increased by 0.1% in both the EA16 and the 27 EU member states.
A wide variety of products manufactured by the chemicals industry are used in many products included in the retail trade index, including textiles, furniture, pharmaceutical and medical goods.
