PKN Orlen selects suppliers of biofuel products in eastern Europe

PRAGUE (ICIS)--PKN Orlen has selected 23 European suppliers of bioethanol and biocomponent esters for biofuel products sold in Poland, the Czech Republic and Lithuania under a tender worth zloty (Zl) 2bn ($647.2m, €505.0m), the Polish chemical group said on Friday.

Nearly 50 bidders entered the initial round of the tender, in which price offers for the one-year contracts for October 2010-October 2011 supplies were submitted in a transparent online bidding process, PKN Orlen added.

In all, the companies should supply 165m litres of bioethanol and 505,000 tonnes of esters, it said.

The selected bioethanol suppliers for PKN Orlen in Poland were: Akwawit-Brasco, Bioagra, Bioetanol AEG, Wielkopolskie Zaklady Farmaceutyczne Biowin, CropEnergies, Destylacje Polskie, Komers International, Sekab Biofiuels and Chemicals, Podlaskie Gorzelnie Surwin and PHP Wiesław Wawrzyniak.

The selected bioethanol suppliers for PKN Orlen subsidiary Unipetrol in the Czech Republic were: Agroetanol TTD and Verbio. Those for PKN Orlen subsidiary Orlen Lietuva in Lithuania were AB Biofuture and Jaunpagasts Plus.

The selected biocomponent ester suppliers for PKN Orlen in Poland were: Bioagra Oil, Rafineria Trzebinia, Bio-Olwerk Magdeburg, OleoChemical, Biowerk Sohland and ADM Hamburg.

The selected biocomponent ester suppliers for PKN Orlen subsidiary Unipetrol in the Czech Republic were: OleoChemical, ADM Hamburg and Verbio. Those for PKN Orlen subsidiary Orlen Lietuva in Lithuania were: SIA Bioventa and Trafigura Beheer.
