SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Evonik Industries plans to shut down its 100,000 tonne/year methyl methacrylate (MMA) plant in Shanghai, China in October for a week-long turnaround, said a company source on Friday.

There had been no outage at the plant, said the source, adding that the unit was running normally and is currently building inventories.

Meanwhile, Evonik is on track to complete the expansion of its polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) unit at the Shanghai facility from 18,000 tonnes/year to 40,000-60,000 tonnes/year by 2011, the source said.

MMA is used to produce polymethyl methacylate (PMMA) polymer, cast sheets and acrylic resins for coatings and emulsions.
