LONDON (ICIS)--A worker has been killed and four others injured in an explosion at US-Based Arizona Chemical’s pine oil and turpentine refinery plant in Oulu, Finland, the company said on Wednesday.

According to Arizona Chemical, the blast occurred around 08:30 local time when repair work was being carried out on a container which had previously been used to store flammable turpentine.

The tank was said to have been cleaned beforehand, the company added.

"There has been no additional damage to the facility and it remains operational at this time," Arizona Chemical said in a statement.

The company were now investigating the incident with the assistance of the local police and national safety officials.

Earlier in July, sources said Arizona Chemical, which refines crude tall oil into fatty acids, rosins and turpentine, had been put up for sale while at the same time private equity owner Rhone Capital pursued an initial public offering (IPO).
