US propylene stocks steady, refineries run slower - EIA

HOUSTON (ICIS)--US propylene inventories were mostly steady in the week ended 10 September while operating rates at US refineries fell slightly compared with the previous week, the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) said on Wednesday.

Refinery-sourced propylene stockpiles last week stood at 2.458m bbl, up by 0.4% from 2.448m bbl in the week ended 3 September.

Meanwhile, US refineries last week operated at 87.6% of capacity, down from 88.2% a week earlier.

Non-fuel use propylene, as defined by the EIA, is intended for petrochemical manufacturing, including polymer and chemical-grade propylene.
