HOUSTON (ICIS)--US producer Dow Chemical’s Taft 1 ethylene oxide (EO) and ethylene glycol (EG) unit in Louisiana is back online following a one-week outage, the company said on Monday.
Dow said the outage, which occurred on 12 September, did not result in a force majeure at the facility, which has an approximate nameplate capacity of 770,000 tonnes/year of EO and EG.
The unit is undergoing a conversion to a purified EO unit only.
Purified EO capacity on the Taft 1 unit is expected to be greater following the conversion than the combined EO capacity of Taft 1 and Taft 2.
Taft 2 has been idled since March 2009, and will be shut permanently following the conversion, according to the company.
