BUCHAREST (ICIS)--Romania's Rompetrol Petrochemicals is to temporarily shut down its Petromidia oil refinery on 20 October for a maintenance turnaround, the company said on Monday.

"This is a normal operation which complies with the legal provisions into force regarding the operation of refineries, and is required in view of improving  the manufacturing equipment and technologies. We will restart activity on 1 November," said a company spokesperson.

During the shutdown, Rompetrol Petrochemicals would cover deliveries to its customers from reserves, the company added.

Rompetrol Petrochemicals, which is based in Navodari, eastern Romania, is part of oil refiner Rompetrol Group, which is fully owned by KazMunaiGaz (KMG) and operates the Vega and Petromidia refineries.
