LONDON (ICIS)--Germany’s Kali and Salz (K+S) has increased its European granular potassium chloride (MOP) price by €12/tonne ($16/tonne), company sources said on Wednesday.

The new European granular MOP price was €317/tonne CFR (cost and freight) and represented a €12/tonne increase on the last official price announced by the potash producer of €305/tonne CFR in June 2010.

The new price level was not expected to encounter resistance on the buy side. According to fertilizer market sources, healthy demand for MOP, low stock levels and firm agricultural commodity prices would support the higher prices.

K+S granular MOP was priced at a €15-20/tonne premium to its standard MOP. Sulphate of potash (SOP) would be priced at a €80/tonne premium over MOP prices, the source said.

($1 = €0.75)
