SINGAPORE (ICIS)--South Korea’s Yeochun NCC Co has settled its October butadiene (BD) contract at $1,682/tonne (€1,229/tonne), down $7/tonne from its settlement price in September on lacklustre demand, industry sources said on Tuesday.

The price is on a pipeline (DEL) delivered basis. In September, the company settled its BD contract at $1,689/tonne DEL.

“The major buyers had little spot appetite as they had earlier covered October requirements and some downstream synthetic rubber plants were scheduled to shut for maintenance in October,” an industry source said.

Asia’s largest synthetic rubber producer, Korea Kumho Petrochemical Co (KKPC) and China’s Sinopec subsidiary - Gaoqiao Petrochemical, were scheduled to shut their synthetic rubber plants in October for maintenance.
