US fuel ethanol stocks drop 1.7% to 16.9m bbl - EIA

HOUSTON (ICIS)--US fuel ethanol stocks fell by 1.7% to 16.9m bbl (710m gal) in the week ended 1 October compared with a week earlier, the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) said on Wednesday.

Despite the drop in inventories, ethanol production as assessed by the EIA last week averaged 863,000 bbl/day, an increase of 4.6% from 825,000 bbl/day in the previous week.

US ethanol production in September averaged 855,500 bbl/day, up from 854,000 bbl/day in August, according to EIA data.
