“Constructions are going on smoothly and our target is to bring it on stream by late December,” the source said in Mandarin adding that construction of the unit had begun in August 2009.
The company already operates a 20,000 tonne/year PBT unit at the same site and with the new plant coming on stream Yizheng Chemical Fibre Group would become one of the largest PBT producers in the country, the source said.
Purified terephthalic acid (PTA) feedstock for the PBT units would come from the company's PTA lines at the same site, he added.
In addition to selling to the domestic market, Yizheng also planned to export some of its PBT output, the source said.
“As many companies are building new PBT lines, overcapacity is appearing. So, we need to export some of the output,” the source added.
PBT is mainly used as an insulator in the electrical and electronics industries.
