TORONTO (ICIS)--KraussMaffei has officially opened a new plant for plastics machinery in Slovakia to further strengthen its presence in the east European growth market, the German maker of machines and systems for the plastics and rubber industries said on Tuesday.

Some 120 workers at the 6,600 square metre facility at Martin in northern Slovakia would make tooling parts for plastics processing machinery, produce switch cabinets, and also assemble injection moulding machines, the company said.

“This expansion of our production portfolio represents a strategic investment in strengthening our presence in Eastern Europe, where we’re expecting strong growth in the next few years,” said CEO Dietmar Straub.

Financial details were not disclosed.

Munich-based KraussMaffei is described as a “world market leader” in machines and systems for plastics and rubber processing, with three divisions – injection moulding technology, extrusion technology, and reaction process machinery.
