India proposes ADD on phenol imports from Thailand, Japan

MUMBAI (ICIS)--The Directorate General of Anti Dumping & Allied Duties (DGAD) at India’s Ministry of Commerce has recommended an anti dumping duty of up to $547/tonne (€394/tonne) on phenol imports from Japan and Thailand, a government source said on Friday.

In its final findings released on 8 October, the DGAD has recommended ADD ranging between $10.03/tonne to $547.03/tonne on phenol imports from these two countries, the source said.

The DGAD had initiated the probe on phenol imports from Japan and Thailand on 11 August 2009, following complaints from domestic chemical manufacturers, the source added.

These recommendations would now have to be finalised by the country’s Ministry of Finance before they can come into effect.
