WASHINGTON (ICIS)--The National Petrochemical & Refiners Association (NPRA) expressed concern on Wednesday about the failure of a ballot initiative in ?xml:namespace>
In 2006 California passed its “Global Warming Solutions Act”, also known as Assembly Bill 32 or “AB 32”, which requires the state to cut its greenhouse gases emissions to 1990 levels by 2020, a reduction estimated to be 25% below current levels.
In Tuesday’s voting, Californians turned down Proposition 23, a measure that would have delayed implementation of the global warming emissions restrictions until the state’s 12.4% unemployment rate could be lowered to 5%.
