HOUSTON (ICIS)--Canadian potash marketing agent Canpotex said on Wednesday it signed a three-year agreement to supply Tata Chemicals (TCL), a key customer in India, with a minimum of 1.5m tonnes of Saskatchewan potash.

The agreement between Canpotex and TCL covers the period from 1 April 2011 to 31 March 2014, and provides TCL with the option to extend the agreement for an additional two years to March 2016.

In the event the agreement is extended, the supply to TCL could include a minimum of 2.88m tonnes, Canpotex said.

Operating since 1972, Canpotex is the exclusive offshore marketing company owned by the three Saskatchewan potash producing companies: Agrium, Mosaic and PotashCorp.

Agrium supplies Canpotex with 9% of its potash product. Mosaic supplies 37% and PotashCorp supplies 54%.
