TORONTO (ICIS)--Eastman Chemical has entered into a joint venture with Italian firm Mazzucchelli 1849 SPA to produce compounded cellulose diacetate (CDA) in Shenzhen, China, the US-based chemicals major said on Thursday.

The venture would produce bio-derived CDA for use in various injection moulded applications, Eastman said.

Eastman’s cellulosics are produced from 100%-renewable softwood materials, the company added.

The joint venture agreement was in response to increasing demand for cellulosic materials, Eastman said. It did not disclose financial or capacity details.
