US Sept ACN exports rise 89% year on year

HOUSTON (ICIS)--US September exports of acrylonitrile (ACN) rose 89% year on year, according to data from the US International Trade Commission (ITC).

Exports in September were at 54,928 tonnes, up from 29,016 tonnes in September, 2009.

The biggest year-on-year increase came from exports to South Korea, China, India, Peru and Turkey. Exports to those countries rose to 45,171 tonnes from 10,108 tonnes.

The biggest drop in year-on-year exports came from Mexico, which fell to 2,886 tonnes in September from 11,060 tonnes the same month last year.

Month-on-month, exports for September fell from 56,324 tonnes in August, a drop of 2.5%.

Major US producers of ACN are Ascend Performance Materials, Cytec Industries and INEOS.
