SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Qatar Fuel Additives Company Limited (QFAC) plans to shut its 610,000 tonne/year methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) plant in Mesaieed, Qatar, for a regular turnaround in October next year, a source close to the company said on Thursday.

The plant is currently operating at 100%, he added.

MTBE is used as an additive to improve gasoline's octane levels.

QFAC last shut the plant in May this year for a scheduled maintenance, the source said.
